Scholarly Publishing 101

Scholarly Publishing 101 Online

As scholars, we all engage with peer-reviewed publications, but few of us know how an article becomes peer-reviewed and ends up in a database.

In this session, Tammy Ivins and Dan Johnston will lift the lid on scholarly publishing to help you understand more about the scholarly communication process, what publishers want, how bibliometrics impact scholarly communication, and how you can best navigate this landscape. Tammy and Dan will also discuss tips specifically for doctorate students interested in converting their dissertations to other published formats.

Tammy has worked as a journal editor for Endnotes and Reference Services Review, and she is currently on the review board for Reference Services Review. She co-wrote the book  How To Write And Get Published: A Practical Guide For Librarians, along with several book chapters, peer-reviewed articles, and other publications.
